Honesty, open-mindedness, and willingness help to deal with the truth.
February 25th, 2009
Honesty is the key to getting to the truth because the truth hurts sometimes and it is usually out of the box of our perceptions. Being open to doing things differently is instrumental to breaking ineffective habit patterns that keep getting us the same results that we don’t want. Once you are open to try doing things differently there needs to be a willingness to actually do it.
Faith, Hope, and Optimism

Faith, Hope, and Optimism: a source of power. Seeing the proverbial glass as half-full, seeing the universe as abundant, friendly, and providing leads to feelings of optimism. This perspective energizes and increases your ability to exert energy. The process of change is dynamic filled with peaks and valleys as described in the saying “one step forward and two steps backwards.” Keeping the faith and doing the work forges the unity of faith and good works which further strengthens the habit.
Vision/view of the possibility of change

To arrive at this point there has been an inner shift that allows for a wider perspective, a seeing beyond current reality. The range of possibilities is vast and incremental, similar to a door that may be wide open or only revealing a sliver of light that signifies the door at least is cracked open. With the wind of faith it is possible to open more and more in an inch-by inch or greater progression.
The Power of Perception.

The road to clarity starts with the accurate perception of what we are experiencing right here right now. The only time we truly live is in the present yet the past and future keep getting in the way. It is true that we can learn from our mistakes and avoid making the same mistakes over and over again, so reflecting on the past and planning for the future are necessary endeavors. Unfortunately we carry this information in our memories in a way that distorts how we see present events. For example, when we go to the dentist and it is associated with past painful experiences such: as getting a filling in a tooth that requires drilling, or getting our teeth cleaned. I notice when I get my teeth cleaned I am reacting to each sensation I experience in a mechanical predetermined way. Based on past experiences of pain and discomfort, I am reacting to the past in the present. I am projecting pain on to the current situation and not experiencing what is going on now. When I compare my expectation to what is actually happening it becomes clear what I am doing and I stop doing it by experiencing each sensation as a new separate event.
